About Us

SoCo Seed Collective, Limited is an association started in 2024 dedicated to community building through gardening. Focused on South County, specifically the semi-rural and under-served areas of southern Anne Arundel and Northern Calvert, we provide ongoing access to a robust seed library, education for community resilience, and regular in-person meet-ups.

We are committed to creating the future we want to see for all members of our community. We advocate for a more inclusive society where everyone’s rights are protected, and everyone’s voices are heard. We believe Black Lives Matter, we enthusiastically welcome LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent families, and know that NO humans are illegal. We read banned books and talk politics openly.

We gratefully acknowledge the many groups of Indigenous peoples’ who were the first occupants and caretakers of the land we call the United States. We especially acknowledge and honor the Piscataway Conoy Tribe who were forcibly removed in the 1600s from the land where South County now resides.

The Piscataway Indian Nation continues to maintain a relationship with the lands where we gather today. Along with the Piscataway Conoy Tribe, the Piscataway Indian Nation received recognition by the State of Maryland in 2012. We acknowledge their long-standing kinship with these lands and waters and acknowledge that we are uninvited visitors on Indigenous lands.

We respectfully acknowledge our debt to the enslaved people, primarily of African descent, whose labor and suffering built and grew the economy and infrastructure of a nation that refused to recognize their humanity.
